Role Overview:
Lead the Platform Engineering Group and drive key initiatives within the Engineering organization. Oversee high-impact projects, guide engineering staff, and shape long-term technical strategy including architectural modernization and technical debt reduction.
Location:
Remote position within US Eastern/Central time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Platform Engineering team responsible for foundational architecture supporting all ClearGov products
- Define and evolve system architecture prioritizing resilience, scalability, and performance
- Establish and refine software development processes and best practices for maintainable, scalable systems
- Foster adoption of modern frameworks, development practices, and engineering tools to enhance team efficiency
- Maintain hands-on technical expertise in AWS infrastructure, Node.js, Angular, and MySQL
- Collaborate with Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Customer Success teams
- Champion technical debt reduction initiatives to ensure long-term platform maintainability
- Partner with VP of Engineering on team resourcing, budgets, and project management
Qualifications:
- 10+ years software engineering experience with focus on SaaS-based systems
- Proven experience leading and managing senior development resources
- Demonstrated success managing complex SaaS product development in high-growth environments
- In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile development methodologies
- 5+ years experience with SQL and relational databases, MySQL experience preferred
- Deep experience with Angular, Node.js, Express, AWS, and related technologies
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize effectively
- Experience mentoring engineers across individual contributor and management tracks
Compensation & Benefits:
$180,000-$195,000 annually plus equity package
