Role Overview: You will develop end-to-end backend systems for government partners, focusing on modernizing legacy enterprise platforms to improve public-facing processes. This role involves building scalable, secure systems that enable users to access government programs and services in real-time through user-friendly interfaces.

Location: Remote position (specific states to be confirmed)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, review, and build backend software with fellow Nava engineers
• Collaborate with government partners and contractors to architect and deploy new systems
• Work in agile environment to efficiently ship new features that meet user needs
• Create tools and processes to automate development, testing, and production workflows
• Write and review technical documentation and perform code reviews
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems and investigate issues
• Support hiring activities including interviews and referrals

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in agile, multidisciplinary team environments building large-scale cloud platforms
• Experience developing applications and APIs with Java, Spring Boot, Go, and OpenAPI
• Proficiency with AWS cloud native services and data engineering
• Current experience developing API endpoints with Java or Go
• Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking around technical trade-offs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Apache Spark and Parquet for data engineering preferred
• Node.js and Next.js experience a plus
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Compensation & Benefits: $107,000 - $120,600 annually Comprehensive health coverage, 401(k) match, annual performance bonus, and professional development opportunities.
