About gWorks: gWorks provides cloud-based solutions for government financial accounting, utility billing, GIS, asset management, and citizen engagement to local governments nationwide.

Role Overview: DevOps Engineer will build infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and automation that powers the SaaS platform serving government clients. The role involves designing CI/CD pipelines, implementing Infrastructure as Code, and ensuring scalable, secure cloud environments.

Location: Hybrid position in Omaha, NE (Tuesdays/Thursdays in-office) or remote anywhere in the US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain fully automated CI/CD deployment pipelines from development to production
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation
  • Automate creation and deployment of QA, staging, production, and demo environments
  • Optimize deployments with blue/green strategies to minimize downtime
  • Build secure, scalable solutions using AWS services including ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, and Aurora
  • Design fault-tolerant infrastructure prepared for disaster recovery scenarios
  • Implement zero-trust security models for authentication and access control
  • Develop monitoring systems and dashboards using CloudWatch or ELK stack
  • Write automation scripts in Python and Bash to reduce manual processes
  • Collaborate with Engineering, QA, and Product teams on DevOps best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years experience in DevOps, systems engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles
  • Expertise in AWS services including ECS/Fargate, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFormation
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tooling
  • Experience with GitHub and modern code repository management
  • Understanding of cloud networking, firewalls, routing, and VPNs
  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools like CloudWatch or ELK stack
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Compensation & Benefits: $90,000 - $110,000 base salary
