About gWorks: gWorks provides cloud-native software solutions for government operations, helping clients transition from legacy systems to modern cloud products.

Role Overview: Data Engineer will build and operate cloud-native data pipelines that transform operational data from legacy government systems into gWorks' modern cloud platform. The role focuses on designing reusable, scalable data infrastructure that supports client onboarding and system integrations.

Location: Hybrid position in Omaha, NE (Tuesdays/Thursdays in-office) or remote anywhere in the US.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from legacy systems
• Build cloud-native data pipelines using AWS services including Step Functions, Lambda, S3, and ECS
• Implement schema governance, validation rules, and reusable data models
• Develop automation tools for data migrations and system transitions
• Build observability features including logging, error handling, and monitoring
• Create infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on platform strategy
• Support client onboarding workflows and data validation processes

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience building AWS-native data infrastructure
• Proven experience designing complex ETL/ELT pipelines for operational systems
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
• Expertise in schema design, data modeling, and validation frameworks
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform preferred)
• Strong understanding of DevOps automation and cloud-native architectures
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Compensation & Benefits: $110,000 - $130,000 base salary
