SimpliGov - Accounting Manager

Role Overview:
You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, improve internal controls, manage the close process, and support strategic financial initiatives while reporting to the CFO. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment and is excited to build and scale financial systems and processes as we build a world-class finance organization to support rapid growth and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, revenue recognition, payroll accounting, and cash flow management
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support fast-scaling SaaS business
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems and tools
- Work cross-functionally with FP&A, RevOps, and other departments to support budgeting, financial accuracy and transparency
- Assist with financial audits, tax filings, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Ensure proper treatment and documentation of SaaS-specific revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Build a team over time as the organization scales
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1-2 years in SaaS or high-growth tech environment
- Strong knowledge of SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Experience with accounting software and general tech-savvy mindset
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with focus on accuracy and process improvement
- Self-starter with ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environment and manage multiple priorities
- Experience implementing new ERP or financial systems (preferred)
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems (preferred)
- Prior public accounting experience (Big 4 or mid-tier firm) (preferred)
- Exposure to institutional investors (preferred)
